Creme Dilution Test, UC Davis, CA. Genetic discussion of creme gene horses: The homozygous creme gene horse can be identified visually by phenoytype: They will be either a cremello (on red) or a perlino (on a black base horse). The cremello & perlino are easy to recognize, however, they look alike & are difficult to distinguise visually between the two. The heterozygous creme gene horse is easy to identify on a red (palomino) or bay (buckskin) horse, but is often hard to positively identify on a black horse, (smokey black) where it may make a horse look brown (similar to the agouti gene), or just a slightly faded or sun-burned black horse.

Click here to visit Count Me Tough's webpage Count Me Tough AQHA and Straw Skip H APHA registered. He has been UC Davis tested ee,AA,CrCr. He is sorrel based & homozyous for the creme & agouti gene - he produces only palomino and buckskin foals. Tuff has 30+ foals on the ground and all are shades of palomino and buckskin. Tuff is double registered in AQHA & APHA as a breeding stock stallion because of the old AQHA rule disallowing cremello and perlinos. Tuff is nominated to the AQHA Incentive Fund Program for the 2007 breeding season. Tuff checked out 87% foundation with the Foundation Quarter Horse Foundation. Only 3% more and he could be registered there. They recommended breeding him to mares at least 94% foundation blood to produce 90% foundation bred foals eligable for registation with FQHA. Tuff is a big gentle fellow and passes his disposition on to his foals. Located in Ceres, CA. E-mail for more information or call 1-209 538-2533.

Two Eyed Zipinreview: 2005 AQHA perlino stallion tested Ee Aa CrCr. Homozygous for the cream gene, cannot sire a bay or a sorrel foal. He is expected to reach 16hh+ and will be standing at stud to outside mares in 2008. He is Two Eyed Jack, Impressive Review, and Zippo Pine Bar Bred, as well as tested HYPP N/N. Visit Painted Ridge Farms, KY for more info.

DOCS WHITE HOT GUN - AQHA Cremello stallion tested, ee AA CrCr, meaning he is sorrel based, homozygous cream & agouti. Visit Westerfield Family Farms, TX for more on this stallion.

Tyrees Pearly Star, shown here at almost 18 mos old. Foundation bred Perlino Quarter Horse stallion who is 31.25% Watch Joe Jack, 25% Two Eyed Jack. By an own son of Watch Joe Jack. He also carries 15.625% Harlan's Tyree blood. Tested EE AA CrCr, meaning he is homozygous for cream, black & agouti. (His sire is dun, he is being tested now for the dun gene.) He also has three matched pair of chromosomes and is therefore expected to be a prepotent sire with the ability to "reproduce himself" or "stamp" his foals. Westerfield Family Farms, TX.

A homozygous Lp horse will not show the white patterning or spotting unless it has the PATN genes accompanying it

Behold Bobby, 16.1 hh AQHA (w/ TB) quarter mare, black, shows a suspicious "bleached" look that may indicate she is a heterozygous creme gene mare. This is what a smokey black horse typically looks like. Owned by Cindy Bailey of Bailey Performance Horses, Orland, CA. "Bobby" came from Texas where she received her ROM on the race track.

Xerox HM, 2002 16 hh smokey cream PSE Andalusian stallion imported from Brazil. He offers true, old world style and baroque foundation bloodlines. Xerox (pronounced ‘cher rocks’) has movement to take your breath away. His personality & temperament are awesome. Allussive Gold SS; Photo by Equuphoto Allussive Gold SS has the highest amount of Arabian blood in the cremello color known so far in all registries today. 13/16 cremello Arabian stallion, he has been tested at UC Davis homozygous creme for the dilute gene. We have gotten buckskin, palomino and smoky black foals to date. He is bred to a Palomino half Arabian right now for a cremello foal I hope which would then be the highest Arabian blooded cremello we know of! Brenda S.
