Our girl, Maddy Blue Hancock2011 Update: ... MY BAD ... I have left this site abandoned for the past months- ok ... years ... way too busy with other life & other sites (this one is just one of my own personal sites I do for fun when I have time, and any more I do not have much of that!). In the meantime, GOBS more equine color genetic information has been discovered and determined (including more dilutes)... So be aware of this as you look through this site until I get a chance to review it for current updates. (send updates to me at any time!) I plan to update this site when it slows down this winter, and after I get caught up on paying sites! Oh, also: I use the spelling "creme" for the cream gene, as that is how it was spelled when it was first discovered, and I learned it and have used that spelling then and ever since: and both are considered correct. (That's how cremello got its name BTW). I welcome any new links, comments, updates, lectures or questions emailed to me: weblackey. (I still have every one sent to me over the months & yes years, saved and waiting, stay tuned...)

Please check facts with other equine color sites:

OK the old site material begins below:

Homozygous-Horses.com is an equine color & pattern directory of homozygous horses as well as horses carrying RARE dilute & other interesting genes. This website is intended as a collection of cool unusual horse photos (no snitching now!) and as a fun resource for mare owners as well as documenting interesting equine & rare breed genetics. We will mainly list breeding stallions, of mostly riding breeds. For horses w/ RARE & unusual gene traits - both homozygous AND heterozygous horses may be listed. This Directory is set up by trait, then breed, then location. Because horses and people being what they are, most horses featured on this site carry more than one, or even a barrel load of gene traits featured on this site. So if you are looking for a certain type of Tobiano paint stallion, you may just run across him on the dun page, etc.

homozygous agouti horses
homozygous black (EE) horses
homozygous champagne dilute horses
homozygous creme dilute horses (cremellos, perlinos)
homozygous dominant-gene curly coated horses
homozygous dun and grulla (grullo) horses
homozygous grey horses
pearl or barlink dilute
homozygous true or classic roan horses
100% sabino producing horses (is this documented?)
homozygous & heterozygous silver dapple dilute gene horses
homozygous spotted (Lp gene) horses; snowcaps & fewspots
homozygous tobiano gene horses
and the just plain WEIRD!
coming soon - need some help identifying dilute on a certain family of horses...
